Today we had an early rise in the Narita Tobu Hotel just
outside the Narita Airport (5:30 for me…thanks jet lag). We were supplied with a
marvelous complimentary buffet breakfast and then headed back to the Narita
airport to meet up with 16 other Lattitude Volunteers from all around the UK,
including my volunteer partner Samantha. They are such a delightful group, we
all bonded instantly. We then threw ourselves and our things onto a bus off to
Tokyo!! We checked in to the Tokyo Youth Hostel just
outside Iidabashi JR station. It’s beautiful and has an excellent view of
the city at night, not to mention complimentary breakfast!

I was also spoiled with an all you can eat meal for lunch
before we made a visit to Asakusa to see the beautiful Senso-ji Buddhist temple, bathe
our heads in incense smoke to gain intelligence, wash out our mouths and
receive our fortunes. It is such a magical place. On that note - the public transit here is truly remarkable, more stations than you can count. Good thing we had our Lattitude country manager Ide san with us or I would have been one seriously lost soul.
I have also made my first stop at a 100 yen store and let
me tell you…I have found my true love. It’s like a dollar store on crack; packed
with everything and anything you could ever need. All items for only 105 yen each!
I’m particularly fond of the grape gummies.

Tomorrow, we have Lattitude Orientation meeting and have a trip to Harajuku and karaoke planned during our free time at night.
My flight to Fukuoka is 11:15 Friday morning. Amazingly, one of the flight attendants on my trip from Los Angeles to Tokyo is from Fukuoka! I hope I can meet with her there, she was such a lovely woman.
